Citizen's Environmental Alliance Open House and More!

The Citizen's Environmental Alliance (CEA) is having an Open House on Saturday, August 16th, from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Stop by and browse through the library, chat with CEA folks, enjoy some refreshments and check out their garden, courtesy of FedUp! Hummingbird Day at Ojibway

The Ojibway Nature Centre is hosting a hummingbird banding session on Saturday, September 6, 2008. Join them to learn about hummingbird banding and tips for attracting these beautiful birds to your yard. Native Plant Garden
Weeding & Wildflower Identification

The Friends of Turkey Creek need help weeding their newly-established native plant garden! Located adjacent to where Turkey Creek passes underneath Matchette Rd., this garden was planted in May 2008 with funding from the Detroit River Canadian Cleanup. No plant identification experience is needed to pull weeds. Participants will also get a chance to learn about native wildflowers & grasses that are now blooming! Date to be determined. Come Celebrate Fall Migration!
Festival of Hawks: September 2008

Celebrate the fall migration of hawks, hummingbirds, songbirds, monarchs, and dragonflies with a variety of activities at Holiday Beach Conservation Area and Point Pelee National Park. There are activities for all ages throughout the month of September 2008.

Experts on the Hawk Tower at this globally significant Important Bird Area will assist with hawk identification daily. On weekends, attend for banding demonstrations, wild hawk releases and talks. Many special features during September 20/21 weekend include workshops and seminars for experts and novices alike, Dragonfly hikes, hands-on kid's activities, bird banding and Monarch Butterfly tagging demonstrations. If you miss the main Festival of Hawks, visit on Saturday, September 27 for more special events hosted by the Holiday Beach Migration Observatory. Admission is only $8.00 per car.

The Grand River Conservation Authority is looking for a Resource Planner to work full-time in Cambridge, Ontario. The job application deadline is August 18, 2008.

NOAA's Great Lakes Environmental Research Laboratory (GLERL) in Ann Arbor, Michigan seeks an enthusiastic Environmental/Ecological Toxicologist to pursue research towards understanding the impact of contaminants on Great Lakes and coastal ecosystems, and to apply this understanding to management and restoration problems. Application deadline is August 26, 2008.

G & G Construction (1078262 Ontario Ltd.) seeks an Environmental Engineer to work in Leamington, Ontario. You may apply by email until August 20, 2008.
