Yellow Fish Road Program

Paint your neighbourhood yellow....

Yellow Fish Road

...to remind your friends and family that storm drains are NOT connected to the waste water treatment plant! Water from storm drains in the City of Windsor empty directly into the Detroit River untreated. That means chemicals should never be disposed of in storm sewers. Contact the City of Windsor (dial 3-1-1) or the Essex-Windsor Solid Waster Authority to find out how to dispose of those unwanted chemicals such as used oil, gasoline, solvent, pool chemicals, etc.

The Yellow Fish RoadTM program is a great way to promote awareness about urban runoff pollution with various groups such as school classes, school green teams, after school programs, Girl Guides, Scouts, neighbourhood groups, corporate groups and home schoolers participating across the country.

The City of Windsor is a new official partner of the Yellow Fish RoadTM program. If you would like to participate in the Yellow Fish RoadTM program, the City of Windsor will supply all the materials needed. Call (519) 253-7111 ext. 226  or email krichters@city.windsor.on.ca for more information.

Visit the Yellow Fish RoadTM website to learn more.  The website is full of information for educators (e.g. teachers, girl guide leaders, etc).  If interested in learning more, fill out the resources page of the website and you will be contacted by either YFR staff or a YFR partner.
